The TIG torch plays a crucial role in a Gas Tungsten Arc Welding setup by providing the heat necessary for welding. In GTAW, the torch generates an electric arc between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the workpiece, creating the extreme temperatures required to melt the base material and, if used, the filler rod.
